Small Business Tip of the Week: Handling a PR Crisis
Posted by Megan Dorn under Small Business
A proactive approach to crisis management is key. When a crisis occurs, immediately get in touch with all relevant audiences, like the media, employees, investors, customers, the public, etc. Do this through a press conference, mass email, phone calls or some sort of website message. Hiding and avoiding your audience will only worsen the situation.

Megan, I am glad to see crisis management is valued as a maintenance tool to business growth. Because I have seen and experienced crisis management first hand as an admin assistant for a major oil corporation in Alaska, I understand how important crisis management is in all walks of life. I agree that crisis management is not fully understood in the entrepreneur industry basically because it’s not talked much in workshops and it’s not something small business owners see as an important aspect of their business. I think they feel that they’ll deal with it when something happens. I recognize crisis management in everything I do. Thank you for your insight on this very little-known subject. Thank you for your time in reading this message. Rosella Young, Longaberger Consultant
