Staying Healthy on the Road
Posted by Megan Dorn under Entrepreneurship, Small Business
Keeping up with a healthy lifestyle while you’re away on business can seem nearly impossible. Eating out all the time, not getting any exercise and altering your sleeping patterns all have a huge impact on your well being, which in turn can also have an impact on your focus and ability to perform the best work possible.
Staying healthy isn’t as difficult as you think. There are lots of ways to stay on top of your health. The Healthcare Administration Degree blog posted a comprehensive list of healthy tips for business travelers, 101 of them to be exact. The list covers everything from travel-friendly workouts to fighting jetlag. So if traveling for business is something that you have to do from time to time, I encourage you to check it out. It’s a pretty quick read.
Though 101 tips sounds like it would cover absolutely everything, I do have one little tip to add to the list. When you’re away from home frequently or for extended stays, the time away can wear on you emotionally as well as physically, especially if you’re leaving behind kids and/or a significant other. Before you head out on your business trip, try to set up a communications protocol. Technology can enable you to not only talk with loved ones who are far away, but also see them. Even if you’re separated by multiple time zones, create a schedule that works for both you and your family and friends. Catching up via mediated channels of communication and at odd times is still better than not catching up at all.
