3 Ways to Get New Customers
Posted by Megan Dorn under Small Business
If you’re satisfied with the number of customers your business has and don’t think you would really benefit from any more, then you need not read any further. Chances are, however, you’re still with me. Why? Because customers are the lifeblood of any business. Even if everything is running smoothly and you’re meeting all your sales goals, bringing in new customers is what’s going to keep it that way.
Here are three Internet-based ways that you should focus on to help your business bring in new customers:
- Rank Higher on Search Engines
Having your site on the first page of a Google search is HUGE. In order to get there, however, you need to engage in a little search engine optimization. The nice thing about SEO is that it’s free, that is if you know how to do it. Unfortunately most small business owners don’t understand the ins and outs of SEO. If you still want to go it alone and try optimizing your site yourself, there are many websites out there with all kinds of helpful SEO tips to help get you started. If you really are an Internet novice, however, consider working with an SEO consultant. - Participate in Social Media
Social media is no longer just for geeks. It’s also not just for teenagers and college students. Activity on social media tools such as Twitter, PartnerUp or Facebook continues to gain momentum among all sorts of demographics of consumers, which is why small businesses are jumping on the bandwagon in masses. You don’t have to participate in every social media tool under the sun to start gaining new customers. Pick a few that make sense for your business and commit to maintaining your efforts. - Amp Up Your Website
Your website MUST be engaging and easy to use. If it isn’t, then you’re likely loosing customers frequently and fast. Your website is where you make your first impression on a huge portion of your potential customers, so you can’t settle for a site that’s “good enough” or “fine.” Potential customers have options all over the Web these days, so if you’re not fully catching their eyes and meeting their needs, then someone who does is only a couple clicks away.
