Entrepreneurship Week 2009
Entrepreneurship Week 2009 kicks off next Monday, running Feb. 23-27. Because much of the content of the StartUp Blog is centered on entrepreneurship and much of our readership is comprised of entrepreneurs, I thought it only appropriate to spend the entirety of next week focusing our attention on the needs, pains and concerns of this […]

Small Business Tip of the Week: Starting a Company Blog
Blogging is no longer an up-and-coming marketing tool. Instead it is a thriving marketing tool that many businesses can’t afford to ignore. Company blogs get you out there in front of your customers and allow you to build a relationship with them, and they do it for little to no money.

Small Business Tip of the Week: Employee Termination
Firing an employee is one of the more unpleasant realities of running a business, but sooner or later it happens. Before you call a termination meeting though, there’s some prep work that should take place. Pull together any and all documentation that supports your argument. This could include performance evaluations, time sheets showing tardiness or […]

9 Year Old Builds iPhone Apps
When I was 9 years old, I built forts out of blankets and cardboard boxes. Silicon Alley Insider informed me recently that fourth grader Lim Ding Wen is building iPhone applications, which is quite a step up from my poorly-constructed abodes that could hardly keep the rain out.
Lim, who is fluent in six programming languages, created Doodle […]
