Second-Rate Wrapping as a Service
Posted by Megan Dorn under Random thoughts
Many online retailers offer complementary gift wrapping this time of year as an added bonus to the products they provide. Sometimes they come complete with a beautiful bow and ribbon, but at the very least the wrapping itself is done in a very precise, pristine manner…usually.
This year, however, one small company will be providing an additional wrapping service called “Crap Wrap,” for their less-than-thoughtful customers. Customers who opt for the “Crap Wrap” service will find their packages arriving in roughly cut paper sealed by industrial tape.
The reasoning behind this? Apparently the small retailer that provides this service says it’s doing its (typically) male customers a favor because many women get upset when they see that their significant others didn’t take the time to wrap the gifts themselves.
It’s kind of a genius idea. How many women out there are actually going to look at a gift that is wrapped horribly and think to themselves, “I bet he had that done by a professional?” Anyway, I just thought that was an interesting way to add some value to the products you’re selling this holiday season.
I will be out of town all of next week, so have a great weekend and Happy Holidays!
